"When do I convert a lead?"  

This is the most common question we hear when doing Zoho CRM training related to leads.

Instead of struggling with the "when", focus on the how and implement a simple policy to help act as a guideline so that your lead conversion and sales process are streamlined and efficient.

Zoho CRM provides the means to capture leads from a variety of sources which can then be quickl and efficiently managed by your sales team, tracking the conversion process, communications, documentation and so on, through to lead conversion to a potential sale.

The answer regarding when to convert CRM leads is not written in stone, basically it is up to your company policy, and this should be documented in the form of a corporate policy for ''when and how to convert a lead''.

For example, this can be...

- when you have had a certain number of meetings and calls

- when you have a good feeling about the lead

- when you think you can sell something to the lead

- after the lead has replied to you in positive way

A simple policy that aims to avoid micro management scenarios and allow Sales Managers to think for themselves might be:

Convert a lead to an account/contact/potential as soon as you have had a positive response and/or have a good feeling about the lead and are confident that you can make a sale.

When you want to convert the lead there are a few steps to follow in Zoho CRM but it is very easy and in just a few clicks you can create:

1. an Account (company)
2. a Contact (person)
3. a Potential (sale)
